Humphrey the Pig was our very first farm animal rescue. Though initially shy and withdrawn, he has quickly become one of our most popular members with his impressive set of tricks including sitting, shaking hands, spinning and giving kisses. Humphrey craves human contact, and charmed his way from living in the barn to the family home by proving his excellent bathroom habits.

It’s no surprise, given that pigs are consistently ranked among the smartest animals on the planet, surpassing horses, cats and even dogs. (Shh, don’t tell the others!) Despite being relatively compact, he weighs in at nearly 200 pounds.
He is believed to be a heritage “meat” breed pig or a mix thereof. But his charming personality convinces increasingly more people that pigs are friends, not food. Humphrey joins us from vegan-run rescue Save the Horses in Cumming, Georgia. Animal control had dropped him off there after finding him wandering rural roads. He was roughly 8 months old at the time and fearful of humans. Hard to believe now that he’s the life of the party!
