About Our Joyous Story

What is Joyous Acres . . .

Joyous Acres is a small, family run rescue farm dedicated to the loving care of animals in need.  From horses to cats to dogs to a popular pig, our goal is to give the best care possible to animals entrusted to us, helping them live healthy, happy, and meaningful lives. Our operation may be small compared to many rescues, and some of us have physical disabilities ourselves. But our family personally attends to every aspect of care from feeding to grooming to muck raking and more.  It is a place full of heart, driven by the belief that with love, all is possible. You see, founder Teresita Lim King had a lifelong dream of running a farm to rescue animals.

DREAM OF RUNNING A FARM TO RESCUE ANIMALS . . .

In 2021, at the age of 70 she finally began making that dream a reality in partnership with her husband Andrew, her sister Betty, and her daughter Joy. Though Teresita, Andrew and Betty are all in their 70s and have physical limitations, they work tirelessly on their mission, feeling rewarded to witness the stunning transformations of their rescues.

CARING FOR RESCUES

The family has found that caring for the rescues has provided many therapeutic benefits for them as well, even helping the elders regain strength, mobility and youthfulness. It’s part of the reason why the family has now taken the step of sharing the healing power of rescues with the broader community. They are now partnering with select senior facilities for other elders to enjoy the therapeutic benefits of interacting with animals.
